What to write on a cliff?

Hellos, goodbyes,

What ifs…

Times & dates,

Peoples’ names,

Tic-Tac-Toe games,

Precious quotes,

Political votes ,

Random thoughts,

Wars fought,

Babies born,

Hearts torn,

Love & hate

In spray paint.

All that matters

In colours;

Splattered.

Overlapping words,

Messages blurred.

Anonymous & obvious,

Kindness & obnoxiousness,

Innocent & obscene,

Captivating & free,

What art uniquely,

What graffiti briefly

To put here on this cliff

Like a modern hieroglyph?

At Big Rock

Quacked.

Standard

I love meter,
And I love rhyme.
Some poets think
That is a crime.
Shakespeare didn’t,
Nor did John Donne.
I think I’ll write
Another one.

I love rhythm,
And I love words,
Lyrical and
Theatrical,
All that spurs hearts
To pittypat.
I love poems,
And that is that.

I love sonnets,
And I love odes.
I’m a strange duck,
So I am told.
I can’t stop though;
I may be quacked.
I’m a poetry
Maniac!

I sing. S i n g  in
Your window,
A lovely melody.
I sit.  S i t  an hour,
Warbling notes
And words ƒor
You only.  O n l y
You admire
My color.  C o l o r
You breathe in,
My tune.  T u n e
We exchange;
A heartfelt echo.
E c h o  as I ƒly
Away, to return
Again soon.
S o o n  to sing
Through your pane,
Your  p a i n,
Yet another
Sweet,  s w e e t
Fain  r e ƒ r a i n.
I hear your
Tone,  t o n e
Even, warm,
W a r m t h  oƒ one,
O n e  not alone,
For in your
Window sing,
S i n g  I.

speaking ill

Standard
speaking ill
i hear it
i hear people
mock on
attacking people
for their differences
their looks
their behaviours
their beliefs
gosh, i've even
done this wrong
gone along
with the throng
of voices
using choicest
words to stab
backs and hack
someone down
to size
how unwise
for the rest
of time
let me be
resigned to be
apart of the
the joke
to be the
one picked on
and poked for
in better company
it would be
to be heaped
with the hurt and
be unrightly persecuted
than to unrightly persecute
so forever let me
execute kindness
and exude love
