Girlish Seawalk

Standard

Head in the clouds
Heart in the sea
Toes dipping down
Into serendipity

Elbows in the breeze
Hands like anemones
Sticking to the things
That make her happy

Will sure and boulder strong
Ear tuned to seagulls song
Lungs filled freshest air
Endless dancing not a care

Eyes light and clear and true
Shimmering like the ocean’s blue
Hair whipping as the grass
A sunshiny tangly mess

Thoughts scattered like the sand
Pulled and pushed
At waves command

Harbouring not a squall
Nor vicious undertow
Glad to float wherever
Tides might flow

Final Flight

Standard

I got lost
In a four-poster bed
And while I
Rested wept and watched
The oceans long fingers
Play music along the shore
I noticed a single feather
Twitching clinging sticky
To the window
And I knew
Some little one
Had died
I went outside
Made a circumference
Of the house
And sure as
The sky was blue
A darkened junco
Laid legs up
Eyes closed
Stiff upon the
Frozen ground
So I did the thing
That seemed best
I picked him up
dark feathered head
With my leathered hands
And made my way down
To where I still
Heard music
And let his final flight
Be a part of
The bluest symphony

Whitecaps

Standard

Ocean Whitecaps by Wayne Logan

The whitecaps push
Away bad thoughts
The whitecaps
Pull the tension out
The whitecaps lull
The mind to peaceful rest
The whitecaps fold
Silent fears beneath their crests
The whitecaps tickle
At the shoreline rocks
The whitecaps laugh
And sing such lovely songs
The whitecaps coax
The sky to sleep
The whitecaps whisper
To the stars sweetest things

September Sunrise

Standard

photo 5
standing on The Rock
listening to The Sun rising
my heart calmly singsphoto 1

the changing colours
and the passing sea lions
i pause to see Life

The Sun takes it’s time
for The Light cannot be rushed
warmth penetrates slow

the moon’s reflection
bows to true Light’s glory
crowning the morning

creation whispers
be still and hear nature’s voice
speak the things of God

sea to sky

Standard

“Sirene”, Gaston Hoffmann

heights and depths hold my interests most

if i could but fly to the clouds

then plunge beneath the swirling coasts

i’d sink right to the ocean floor

then burst forth onto heights i’d soar

creature with both a fish’s tail

and angel’s wings to cut through air

i’d swim through waters deep and wide

i’d sail through both the sea and sky

“If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.”

~ Psalm 139:9-10

Amaranthine Moments

Standard

She picks purple
IMG_9918It's her favorite colorIMG_9919
Today will be a truly
Perfect outing for her
 She will put her
 Hand to purple
 Pulling out all the bits
She can find them
Anywhere she looks
Dark ridges of perse rock
IMG_9916As she walks acrossIMG_9917
Turning over clams
With lavender bellies
 Dead crabs scattered
Their magenta backs
 Whole and cracked
Claws and legs unattached
Shuffling further down
 The shore exploring more
 IMG_9915Spying first a thistle toppedIMG_9912
With violaceous flowers
 Before her hoped for
 Blackberry bliss
 To fill her bucket with
 Plopping plump purple
 In a delicious heap
Sneaking a few to eat
 There's more than she
 IMG_9913Could possibly reachIMG_9911
 Still she accomplished
Her colorful feat
And wandering back
Down the beach
 Bends to pick up
 One last seaside plum
 An little slender bittium
 Her morning spent
 On red-blue treasures
 These amaranthine moments
 Are unmeasurable
