Burn

Standard

The freedom

Of a candlestick

Is none

But to burn

And burn it does

Waxing

Melting

Wasting

It’s life away

Only one passion

The flame

Giving light

Sparking interest

Glowing

In wee hours

Cutting darkness

A small warmth

On a cold

Lonely night

A singular beauty

Upon a pedestal

No choices

But to burn

Window Soul

Standard

If you’d

Slowly let me

Bring you ’round,

You will

Smile again.

Perhaps you faded

For awhile,

But you will

Shine ahead.

There’s a window

In every soul;

We each exchange

A closer view.

Though you’ve struggled

And it’s turned cold,

Warmth will return as

Sun filters through.

Pick up your feet.

Chin up too.

Look into my eyes.

Remember me?

I still love you.

September Sunrise

standing on The Rock
listening to The Sun rising
my heart calmly singsphoto 1

the changing colours
and the passing sea lions
i pause to see Life

The Sun takes it’s time
for The Light cannot be rushed
warmth penetrates slow

the moon’s reflection
bows to true Light’s glory
crowning the morning

creation whispers
be still and hear nature’s voice
speak the things of God

“This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”
~John 3:19-21

Seeping Light

Standard

Wait, I can’t hide in a hole

Because I’ve got to

Let the world know

The Light has come

No one puts a candle

Under a bowl, so

I can’t bury away,

Or step into the shade

But rather stand on display

Though I am a cracked vessel

And I don’t always get

Or share the message right

I’ve got to be like salt

I need to reflect The Light,

Hoping that through my cracks

The Light seeps and shines out

Despite myself

© Keely Myles

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” ~Matthew 5:13-16
