Becoming someone

Different

But therefore

More oneself

Changing as

Life breaks you

Finding ways

To reglue dignity

And rise above

Regaining health

Reinvention of

New ailments

Flipping pain

To that was

Meant to be

Never feeling

Victimized

But free to

Move affliction

Into fresh

And beautiful

Be true

Standard

2 Thessalonians 4:11

A dear man
Once warned me
That pastors’ wives
Often are either
Easily offended
Or busybodies.
And you know what?
He was quite right.
I’ve been both
At times,
I’ll admit it.
I need to change
Some habits.
I need to learn
To shut my trap,
To plug my nosiness,
To deafen my ears,
To watch where
My feet and heart go.
I need to love more fully,
To not be a bully,
To be really, truly real,
To not make such
Big deals out
Of little molehills.
I will always
Love that man
For teaching me
To be less critical,
Less judgmental,
To be more
Self forgetful,
To be less prying,
To do less sighing,
To spend more time
On loving and living,
Being more forgiving
To myself and others,
To not invite trouble,
To not nose or meddle,
To be less fretful
About what others
Think, say or do.
I love that man
For teaching me
“This above all:
to thine own self
Be true.”

“We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies.” ~2 Thessalonians 3:11

“This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Farewell, my blessing season this in thee!”
