They were never mine to keep,
Though I nursed them from my breast,
Though I kissed them in their sleep,
Though I gave my very best.
They were never mine forever,
Though I wiped each fevered head,
Though I was their constant helper,
Though I kept them amply fed.
No, they belong to their true Maker,
Though He entrusted me with their lives.
Their Father in heaven is still greater;
They’ve been His since before all time.
Yes, they belong each to Father God,
Though in my womb He knit them.
They were formed first with His thought;
He knows their beginning and their end.
So I give them back again to Him
Though it’s hard to let them go.
They were never really mine;
He will keep and love them evermore.

~ Psalm 139:13-16 ~
“For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it full well.
My frame was not hidden from you,
When I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.”
~ John 10:28-29 ~
“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out
of the Father’s hand.”
