Shine

Standard

Sitting, sitting,
Sitting, sitting,
Then some sitting
A little more.
Sitting, sitting,
Watching, sitting,
Sitting until
My little part.
Sitting, sitting,
Quiet, sitting,
Sitting still, but…
I’m not bored.
Sitting, sitting,
Waiting, sitting;
I’ve never sat
This long before.
Sitting, sitting,
Sitting, sitting,
Sitting, sitting,
Sitting, sitting,
Sitting, sitting,
Feeling silly sitting,
Sitting, sitting…
Breathe!
Now finally shine
(Like a little star).

Oystercatchers

Standard

Ousting whistling Oystercatchers
Whilst walking over rocks.
Rousting them out of water-beds,
They shriek and fly amok.
Jouncing black, skittish fowl,
Their bright penetrating eyes
Casting freakish, glaring scowls;
Red beaks screaming shrill cries.
Tell me who had the greater shock
Whilst walking over rocks?
Ousting whistling Oystercatchers.

Slicing

Standard

Why me?

Why do I get to live

so comfortably?

When others face life

despairingly…

Why have I got it

abundantly?

I’ve got cake that I eat;

it’s loaded with icing!

Others are

barely surviving

on goo,

their tummies writhing.

I think it’s time to start

self-denying,

to divvy the plates

and start

slicing.
